Wildlife

Polyporus squamosus (Dryad’s Saddle)

What a wonderful example of this sadly, poisonous fungi.

Red Squirrel SOS!

The Children’s Mother and I went for a walk in Slaley Forest, very pleasant if a little longer than anticipated!!

On the return leg to the car we came across this little Red Squirrel who was obviously unwell, you just can’t otherwise get this close to a “Red”

She is now at the Vet’s, hopefully she will make it, though there is a strong possibility that she had Grey Squirrel Pox a virus that is deadly to Reds…..

38 Degrees | Save Our Forests

Everyone, please consider signing this petition, these forests are ours and most of the coniferous woodlands enjoyed by so many in my part of Britain were planted as national assets.  The fifteen million pounds the government currently spends on maintaining and protecting these huge areas of woodland is in my humble opinion worth every last penny.

Thank you.
